Pepper Racing Continues to Shine
Aug 06, 2018
What a story it turned out to be as we reflect on another season for Pepper Racing. 2017-18 has seen a lot of growth in our Canberra based operation and we proudly brought up our 1000th runner to go with plenty of winners along the way. Our record in town is on the improve and with horses like VICEROY, MELBERRA STAR, SHEZACRAFTSMAN and KEEPER GIRL in the mix we will continue to press in the upcoming year.
The highlight for the stable had to be the flashing finish of VICEROY on a balmy night at Canterbury Park. He is renowned for toughness and a will to win and this was on show as we wore down the fancied grey Spending To Win. Viceroy went on to finish second in the Wagga Town Plate and has really announced himself as one of the region’s top level sprinters. It’s a shame that he isn’t eligible for the Kosciuszko because we know how good he is over the short course and he would have been fancied by the slot holders.
The year has kicked of well with COULD IT BE MAGIC showing the class as she was posted three wide the trip from a wide draw. The ex Victorian was knocking on the door across the border and the breakthrough was only a matter of time. Kayla Nisbet keeps getting better and those astute eyes would have noticed her increasing presence in town and you can see why with rides like these.
The new year will see Pepper Racing attending the yearling sales with more vigour so if you are interested in joining the team then contact us and we can ensure that you are first to get the call when the hammer drops.
Luke commented that “I couldn’t have achieved this success without the hard work and dedication of my team. They endure the harsh conditions that training in Canberra throws at us without complaint and I am truly thankful”
